What are the tax rates?

Nexus is defined as having a significant presence or a commercial connection within the state to warrant sales tax. To determine whether your business has nexus in a particular state, you need to check each state's unique criteria to qualify as having nexus in that state.
Deskera Books allows you to keep track of the transactions made in different states and the subsequent taxes owed to the state. You will need to file your taxes through the appropriate channels after you have confirmed that you have nexus in the states involved.

What Does Product Classification mean for me in Deskera Books?

Deskera has a list of product categories based on the software you can use their search engine to identify the product category relevant to their products. Once they have identified the right type for their products, they can classify the products to that particular category.
In return, our system will determine the product category code and map it according to the right tax code, as per ship-from and ship-to address tax code.

How can I add tax exemptions to contact in Deskera Books?

Due to various factors such as organization type, product classification, or the buyer's purpose, the transactions involved may be exempted from sales tax. There are three types of exemptions: Product-based exemptions, Use-based exemptions, Buyer-based exemptions.
When creating a new Contact, you will need to indicate if your Contact is exempt from sales tax. If the Contact is exempted from tax, the tax won't be applied to the business transactions (sales) for this particular Contact. This ensures that sales tax is not incorrectly charged.

What is origin of Sales tax?

Origin sales tax means that the transaction will be taxed with the state's sales tax rates where the seller is based. There are 11 origin-based states,Arizona, California, Illinois, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia.

What is the Designation Sales Tax?

Destination sales tax means that the transaction will be taxed with the state's sales tax rates, where the buyer takes ownership of the product.
